SPICE software modeling of new transducer circuit element ideas:
My main task for Acoustic Imaging was the design of the Color Doppler Analog circuit board, but I also worked with another engineer who was experimenting with very novel designs for the transistor circuits that were in the transducers. The goal in the transducer element design was always to try to reduce electrical noise as much as possible so as to detect fainter and fainter echo signals, and this engineer was experimenting with ways to bias the transducer transistors using a minimum of resistive elements (which contributed most of the thermal noise in the circuit).
Because I had done substantial programming at home as a hobby, I was able to help in this effort by using a commercially available circuit modeling program called SPICE to model many different variations of circuit designs quickly before settling on new designs to prototype and test.
